Cookie Policy

What are cookies?

Cookies are small pieces of data stored on one's computer by a web browser, which will be retrived for later use. Examples of this may include keeing a user logged in, saving changed preferences and game scores. There are two types of cookies, persistent cookies and session cookies. Session cookies expire, or are deleted, when you close the tab containing the cookie. Persistent cookies on the other hand don't expire that easily. They will still be preserved after you close your browser or restart your computer. Cookies can be set and stored by the same website. This is called a first-party cookie. A cookie set from a different website on a page is called a third party cookie. For example, say a user visits https://www.example.com which conatins an ad from https://lovesadvertising.com. When downloaded, the ad with procede to set a cookie on that website. Then, if that same user goes onto another website, say https://foo.com which also contains an ad from https://lovesadvertising.com, the ad will once again set a cookie. Eventually, both cookies will be sent to https://lovesadvertising.com, where people can build a browsing history, which they can use to target you for ads on certain websites you will most likly visit. There is also this intresting concept of ZombieCookies, or evercookies, where a javascript code detects if a cookie has been deleted, and recreates the cookie, thus a zombie :P See here for more details about cookies.

What types of cookies do we use?

On our site we use functionality cookies. Functionality cookies allow us to save your preferences and game scores. Currently on this site, we use only two cookies. The first cookie is used to save your score in the game. The second is for detecting if you have clicked that "Got It" button on the right so that you won't be bothered on future visits.
